Short profile:
Roger instigated the formation of the Portable Antiquities Scheme in 1997. It now has more than 40 staff and covers the whole of Wales & England. Originally a specialist in Roman coins, he has documented many hoards from the British Isles. He was recently seconded to the DCMS to handle legislation relating to the handling of Illicit Antiquities. He studied at the Institute of Archaeology, University College London.
Roger was awarded an OBE for services to Heritage in the Queen's birthday honours (June 2008.)
