The Scheme as a learning facilitator
The Portable Antiquities Scheme is currently developing it's potential as a tool for "lifelong learning". As a repository of data for many thousands of objects, the Portable Antiquities Scheme could rapidly become an invaluable tool for educators, researchers, metal-detectorists, students and the casual observer.

Within this section, you will be able to learn about many different aspects of the scheme, how you can get involved in the scheme's activities, how to take grid references, where you can study archaeology, what could be researched on the scheme, and much, much more. The menu on the left, and highlighted text, will take you to the specific sections.
The scheme has its own dedicated Education Officer, Ceinwen Paynton, who was previously a Finds Liaision Officer and has recently worked for the University of York, the BBC and Time Team. Over the coming months, the Scheme will be promoting the educational and learning value of its data and core values.
