An incomplete lead Powder Measure of Post-Medieval date (AD 1600-1700). The object is composed of a now flattened and distorted, conical sheet cylindrical sheet. the base and loops are missing and at the opposing end the rim is thickened.  Height: 24.89mm, Width: 33.79mm, Thickness: 8.90mm, Weight: 17.3g The metal is cream in colour with a slightly pitted patina. According to Courtney (1988), powder flask nozzles and caps are among the most common remains encountered on Civil War sites. A musketeer was armed with twelve powder flasks, each attached to his bandolier by a cord. …

An incomplete Post Medieval lead powder measure with a nozzle dating c. AD 1600-1700. The measure comprises a hollow open ended container that has been compressed. On either side is a small handle. The basal rim is ridged. Extending from the flat lentoid base is a conical, circular-sectioned, nozzle that tapers to a partially enclosed end with a circular perforation that extends through to the measure. The patina is light grey. The measure is 35.4mm long, 28.7mm wide, 14.9mm thick and weighs 23.76 grams.

An incomplete sheet lead post-medieval powder measure base. The object is a circular cup-shaped, but has been significantly bent, corroded and damaged, distorting its original shape. These are common finds from Civil War sites and the complete holder would have been attached to the bandolier via a cord running through two loops on the cap (Courtney 1988, 2).
