Medieval cast copper alloy horse harness pendant. The pendant is in the form of a lion rampant with a long tail that curves up the back forming two loops. There is a smaller transverse loop at the top for suspension. The reverse is flat. As well as moulding to show the parts of the lions body there is a large incised annulet at the eye. The surface has a grey brown colour with some green patina and traces of gilding. The length is 33.0mm, the width is 19.5mm, and thickness 3.1mm. It weighs 4.10 grams.
Similar pendants in the form of lions and eagles are shown in Ashley (2002) fig.25, nos.1-3. Several similar examples are also recorded on the database including LIN-6B7A31. Late 13th-14th century.
