Copper alloy thimble. Open-ended thimble, with a narrow foot ring and regular stamped indentations limited by a single upper border line. Circumferential lines appear on the smooth inner surface, suggesting the thimble was turned on a lathe. A very consistent thickness also suggests machine manufacture. Though open thimbles are less common, a foot ring argues a later 19th-century date. Suggested date: Modern, 1850-1900.
Height: 14.87mm, Diameter (basal); 20.75mm, Thickness of wall (clear of foot ring): 0.62mm, Weight: 3.83gms.
