A buckle with a composite trapezoidal frame, rectangular-sectioned pin and rectangular sheet plate. The bar and the sides of the frame are made of a single strip of copper alloy and the outside edge, which is covered by a sheet roller, is of iron and is held in small holes through the ends of the strip. The plate is made of a single piece of copper-alloy sheet bent in half around the frame, with a circular pin hole and one iron rivet near the attachment edge. The attachment edge is concave on the upper half of the plate and straight on the slightly shorter underplate. The pin is of copper alloy and is simply bent through the pin hole around the bar. The frame measures 16mm x 21mm and the plate 28mm x 13mm (underplate 25mm long). The total dimensions of the object (taken from the image) are c. 40mm long and 21mm wide. The construction of the frame is similar to that of more elaborate buckles, e.g. Fingerlin 1971 Abb. 324 and 325. It dates to the 15th century.
