Accessiblity

This site uses a dynamic style sheet switcher, which was explained at the website "alistapart.com". The look of this website is completely defined by the stylesheet chosen to apply. If you choose the no style sheet option below, you will see just the page with no aesthetics!

The stylesheet is set by a cookie and therefore will remain the same for the duration of your visit and indeed when you return.

Text size

This site also provides the option to change the text size. This can be over ridden quite easily by using the browser controls.

If at any time you need to reset the stylesheet to the original, click on the graphics on link above.

Links

  1. Most of the links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail (unless the text of the link already fully describes the target for example the headline of a page or article).
  2. Whever possible, links are written to make sense out of context.
Most standards compliant browsers (such as JAWS, Home Page Reader, Lynx, and Opera) can extract the list of links on a page and allow the user to browse the list, separately from the page.
  3. Link text is never duplicated; two links with the same link text always point to the same address.
  4. We do not employ "javascript:" pseudo-links. All links can be followed in any browser, even if scripting is turned off.
  5. We have attempted to eradicate all links that open new windows without warning.

Accessibility software and services

We have attempted to comply fully with accessibility guidelines, however, there are a few legacy pages which are still non compliant. We have used the following tools to test the pages.

  1. Bobby, a free service to analyze web pages for compliance to accessibility guidelines.
  2. HTML Validator, a free service for checking that web pages conform to published HTML standards.
  3. Web Page Backward Compatibility Viewer, a tool for viewing your web pages without a variety of modern browser features.
  4. WAVE from Webaim
