Dan -

I think there's a bug in your API. I tried the following for Essex and it works:

http://www.finds.org.uk/CCI/api/georss.php?getDenomination=Unit&getCounty=Essex

Try these and it fails:

http://www.finds.org.uk/CCI/api/georss.php?getDenomination=Unit&getCounty=Lancashire

http://www.finds.org.uk/CCI/api/georss.php?getDenomination=Unit&getCounty=Northumberland

It looks like there are no entries, but the geoRSS still includes an entry with a null georss:point. It would be better if there are no entries in the feed if the dataset is empty.

I only just caught this blog. You've done a great job getting this API out, and I hope it will encourage others.

I've added it to my map, here's the instructions:

- Go to http://www.online-archaeology.co.uk/GoogleMap/
- Click Browse
- Expand the tree to say Roman > Coloniae, then click on 'Coloniae' in the tree view
- Click any marker to show the InfoWindow
- Click the black icon at the top of the InfoWindow

This will load all coins in the same county as the clicked item.
